Overview
At around 11:10 on August 14th, a climber was attacked and killed by a brown bear on the Mt. Rausu hiking trail (at an altitude of around 500m). The Mt. Rausu and Mt. Iou hiking trails are currently closed. For the latest information on hiking trails, please check the “Shiretoko Hiking Information” section of the Shiretoko Information Treasure Box website.
