Regarding the brown bear accident on the Mt. Rausu hiking trail (which occurred on August 14, 2025), the Shiretoko Brown Bear Countermeasures Liaison Committee held a press conference at 3:00 p.m. on September 11, 2025, and the public materials have been posted on the Shiretoko Nature Foundation website.

On October 15th and 16th, 2025, several cameramen were spotted approaching a brown bear along the Iwaobetsu River. It is prohibited to approach brown bears excessively, chase them at close range, or feed them within Shiretoko National Park.
